Identity

Men and especially men of color face unique difficulties rooted in the intersection of their racial and gender identities. Men are less likely to seek help in healthcare especially as it relates to their mental health, address associated symptoms which results to under diagnosis leading to more reactionary behavior (i.e heightened irritability, stress) and worst case suicidality. In.Sight emphasizes a culturally competent approach to address the compounding effects of systemic racism, culturally specific masculine norms, and historical trauma that can result in emotional distress, mistrust of the healthcare system, and a reluctance to seek help preferring informal support.

Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Psychodynamic Therapy explores unconscious processes and past experiences, including unresolved conflicts and traumas from childhood, to help individuals understand and resolve underlying issues contributing to identity struggles. We will focus on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to a distorted self-image. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps in building a more stable and accurate perception of oneself. It offers unique strategies to foster understanding and positive change in oneself.
